PHPSC Slashdotted
The PHP Security Consortium (PHPSC) received its first Slashdot post today. Chris was worried about whether the server could handle heavy traffic. I guess this will be its first true traffic test. If it can handle this, it can handle just about anything. ;-)

I like that - "first Slashdot post" - as if there are many more to come. :-)
We didn't get a full-fledged Slashdotting, since it was after peak hours and in the developers section. Ivan says Slashdot can generate 40-50 requests per second under normal circumstances, and we got nowhere near that. I still think we can probably handle it, but I'm just not completely comfortable with this whole virtual dedicated host thing yet.
It's not a true slashdotting unless its on the /.'s front page. A story stuck in the developers section with 16 comments by 8 different people doesn't qualify!
Note that in my post I refer to it as "its first Slashdot post," but maybe my title is misleading. Nonetheless, it was posted on Slashdot. I don't think they'll ever push any PHP-related stories to the main page; they seem to despise it.
/me refers to the post title :)
